Welcome to Autism Next Steps!

I'm Rozelle Gipson, originally from the Sunshine State but calling the Queen City home for over a decade. As a mother of a teen daughter with Autism, intellectual delays, and mental health needs, I understand the challenges firsthand.

Navigating my daughter's journey has been overwhelming and lonely at times, lacking a community of parents who could relate or offer guidance. However, I've learned to be resilient and determined in advocating for the services she needs to thrive in this world.

Our journey began with a diagnosis of ADHD, anxiety, developmental delays, and behavioral problems at age six. Over the next five years, we faced numerous challenges in securing the right support, from crafting an effective IEP to accessing effective therapies and behavioral interventions. Despite my efforts, it wasn't until she was 11 that we received a comprehensive diagnosis, including autism, intellectual delays, and mental health needs.

Understanding the "why" behind my daughter's challenges with the correct diagnosis empowered me, giving me the knowledge and tools to advocate effectively on her behalf. While the journey has been complex, I'm proud to say that today, she's thriving in a supportive school environment, socially engaged, and making progress academically.

As parents, we often wonder about the future—college, vocational training, employment—and it can feel daunting. That's why I'm passionate about creating a support group where parents can share resources and experiences. Together, we can create a narrative of a strong community and collaboration as we support each other, and our child's unique needs are championed to the next steps.

I invite you to join us and be part of this empowering community!

Warm regards,
